Jody Brand

JODY BRAND (b.1989, South Africa) is an artist and photographer living and working in Cape Town, South Africa. She has been documenting marginalized histories through the medium of photography and mixed media installation.

Through community building, Jody has developed a practice rooted in care. In 2011 she created chomma, an online portal showcasing her documentation of South African youth culture, and in 2014 her work was selected for 89+, a project by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist recognizing young innovators. She has had two solo shows; You Can’t Keep A Good Woman Down at Stevenson Gallery (2017) and Infinite Opulence at Blank Projects (2018).
